I use good batteries, not the cheapo kind. This little guy blows through them for as little as I use it. Works great with a fresh battery the next time its takes a while to get the desired effect and the third...well, its just time to replace the battery again... I'm sure I'll like it a lot more after I invest in some rechargeable batteries.
